Hike Description

Start at the Long Lake Trailhead and follow signs to Lake Isabelle. The parking lot only holds about 30 vehicles. Come early to avoid crowds. If you can't find parking, you can park at the Brainard Lake Recreation area, but this adds 2 miles to your total trip.

The trail passes Long Lake. The trail follows along South Saint Vrain Creek. When crossing Jean Lunning Trail make sure to follow signs for Lake Isabelle and Pawnee pass.

Things to Note

We went in early August and even though Boulder was hot, the trail was frigid. We left early in the morning so that we could arrive by 7am. The weather was about 50 deg F and windy. If you plan to take this trail, be prepared and wear layers even if you anticipate it to be warm.

Directions to Trailhead

When we went, Left Hand Canyon Drive was experiencing hour delays because of road construction. The drive through Nederland, CO only adds a few minutes and is a much nicer drive. On the way back to Boulder, you can stop in Nederland and visit the local coffee shops!

Special thanks to my husband Josie and my best friend Carleton for joining me on this beautiful hike. All photos from our hike on August 6, 2016.
